Why would you want to participate?
The real answer: because your soul descended into this world for a Divine purpose. And as it says in Tehillim, מה' מצעדי גבר כוננו – man’s every move is preordained by Divine Providence.
Every person you meet and everywhere you go, you need to think why Hashem sent you there. And then utilize the opportunity to bring G-dliness into the world.
What is the cycle of life about? You may do a lot of good things, but the majority of your time is spent out in your business day. Wouldn’t you want to bring more meaning and depth to your life,
your relationships and your day?
And on a practical level: All said and done, giving out a box of matzah is good for business.
Common Fears and Objections to participating
Here are just some of the fears we encountered over the years why a frum person would NOT want to participate. We would be happy to hear from you what it would take to overcome your objections and get you too involved.
Statistically, the number one reason why you would not want to give a matzah to a Jew you know is:
I fear being rejected and have no interest in subjecting myself to the possiblity
I do a lot of good deeds and am involved in many projects. Kiruv is not one of them…It’s just not my thing
We are not asking you to go meet people you don’t know and actively get involved in outreach. We are asking you to pay attention to those people you ALREADY interact with and steer your relationships towards Yiddishkeit.
The person I know is totally uninterested
Traditionally, most Jews make some kind of seder albeit not necessarily a kosher one. And chances are they will love some good Shmurah matzah to enhance it. They are not nearly as antagonistic as you may think.
If you feel more comfortable, try it first with someone you are not so “afraid” of. Once you see it work, move on to all your high-powered contacts too! And remember – what’s the worst that can happen?!
I do not mix religion into my business
Giving a matzah to the Russian Jewish kid who is packing boxes in your warehouse is no big deal. But giving to your high-powered attorney or client is daunting.
Here is the reality from a practical standpoint – standing out from the competition is good for business. Some will hate you, but most will love you. What greater marketing and networking tool for you to stand out than your proud Yiddishkeit? Hey, a yarmulke on your head is a reason to trust you. People assume that about an observant Jew. Proof is the chilul Hashem when an observant Jew succumbs to his negative inclinations. But your Judaism is a plus. Plus, Matzah is a business gift for the upcoming holiday, it doesn’t have to be a religious thing.
The people are going to eat the matzah straight away, long before Pesach!
The Jew may not make a Bracha on the matzah and then I caused someone to eat without a bracha
Eating matzah on the Seder night is D’Oraisa (Biblically mandated). Tell them the bracha and the first paragraph of bentching after, and you solved the problem.
· Why davka Matzah?
· There are many Mitzvahs to try, but right now Pesach is coming.
Matzah is an easy sell. It is food, and Jews make a Seder anyway. And Shmurah matzah is a win-win.
Matzah is the food of Emuna, faith, according to the Zohar. When a Jew eats the Shmurah Matzah on the Seder night, he ingests faith in Hashem.
That ignites the Jewish spark.
Where are the Matzahs baked?
Lakewood matzah bakery
Do we keep the names of the recipients?
No, we do not. We only save your name. We will not be sending them anything; we want you to do that. You are the “Rabbi” or “Rebbetzin”; we want to supply you the tools, that’s all. We do save your name to ask you to give again next year.
Is this a fundraiser? Where does the money go?
We are not doing this as a fundraiser. All the money goes to pay for the program itself. The money you pay covers the cost of the matzahs, the brochure, the box and the shipping. We ask for donations to be able to send out more boxes to more people as well as to cover the cost of our overhead like producing the website and the video commercial. For the most part we have volunteers running the show.
What if I want to send someone Matzahs but I can’t afford it?
Send us an email. We will do our best to help you out so that the Jews get their Shmurah Matzahs.
What is our goal?
We want you to join us in reaching out to more and more Jews out there, to spread Yiddishkeit everywhere and to make G-dliness fill the earth.
Note – the goal of Operation MitzvahShare is to reach out to FRUM Jews and have them reach out to their less observant fellow Jews.
